THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING
Carolyn Parent, CEOFor over 30 years, Metron has empowered utilities and real estate entities to manage water more efficiently, starting with metering, billing, and leak detection. The company began with cost-effective, scalable solutions for rural and municipal utilities. By pioneering cellular-based metering technology, it enabled instant connectivity, real-time data and simplified billing.
Today, Metron has layered that legacy with advanced AI, high-resolution data analytics, and human-centered design to build a powerful water intelligence platform. The result is a roster of solutions that are accurate, scalable and actionable across different business contexts.
“We built a company that’s always innovating to make water intelligence easier, faster and more affordable for everyone,” says Carolyn Parent, CEO.
This functionality is supported by Metron’s WaterScope® software platform, which presents context-specific insights in terms individual users can understand. For example, water usage is presented per-unit for apartments, per-pad for mobile home parks, per-gallon for utilities, and per-square foot for commercial buildings.
Building on this, Metron developed WaterScope PLUS — an enhanced analytics layer for cohort analysis, proactive recommendations, and cross-property benchmarking that enables users to compare performance across geographies or asset types. It helps clients detect and predict water losses, prioritize interventions and drive measurable cost savings across their organizations.
Since clients often lack internal resources for active data monitoring, Metron offers real-time monitoring and proactive alerts through its WaterMasters service. It's especially valuable for clients in real estate and manufactured housing who have limited bandwidth but are highly exposed to water-related costs and risks.
Metron’s impact extends beyond theory and is firmly grounded in real-world results. For instance, Polaris Real Estate Partners, which manages over 4,500 multifamily units, faced rising water costs due to undetectable leaks in older buildings. By piloting Metron's smart water monitors they gained real-time, building-level insights for targeted repairs. Through the deployment of a combination of mainline meters and submetering solutions, the company identified significant system losses, ultimately saving approximately $100,000 annually.
Beyond cost savings, Metron's mission ripples into larger environmental and societal goals. In an era when ESG reporting is becoming a standard, the company enables organizations to track and report water conservation metrics with clarity.
Emphasizing this forward-thinking approach, Nick Bettis, VP of Marketing, explains, “Innovation is in our DNA. We led the transition from manual reads to radio and then to cellular technology, consistently driven by the goal of helping our customers manage water more efficiently and meet today’s sustainability challenges.”
While its tools will continue to evolve, the mission stays the same: to help customers leverage one of the world’s most precious resources more wisely, sustainably and intelligently.
